My baby's training me

i am amazed by how much babies understand and react to what happens around them. My son expects me to go talk to him as soon as i reach home. If i reach the same room as him and talk to someone else first or not mind him, he turns his head away when i try to talk to him. I noticed this first when he was around 3 months old! i was on the phone when i reached home. he saw me and heard me. i walked past him but was too engrossed on the phone. after a few minutes i came to him and he turned his head away. i first thought he didn't see me or was focussed on something else. But when others came around and talked to him, he coolly responded to them, looked and smiled at them, but very cleverly dodged my eyes. i tried all sorts of tricks but to no avail; he behaved as if i was invisible. It was only after an hour that he decided to give me some attention. even that was funny. he was trying to avoid me, but part of him wanted to play with me, he was starting to get half-smiles. seeing this, i tried again to make him smile and at last, he gave me a laugh.

Ahh, i would give my kingdom for that laugh!!!

now, as soon as i reach home, i go straight to him and play with him for a while before doing anything else.
