തന്ത്രം പാളി ! But for the better
it must be true; whenever i make plans and then announce it somewhere, somehow it doesn't work out that way. and many of the times, its for the better.
i was about to go for a movie, as mentioned in my earlier blog, when i see my cousin bro from ekm in grandmom's room! he had come for a wedding, and hadn't informed anyone. anyways, i cancelled the movie plan instantly, to be with him.
Was having a chat with him when there was a visitor outside. He said, "just tell grandmom Jayan is here to see her". she couldn't remember him but mom talked to him and it turned out he used to work at grandmom's place, long back.
grandmom recognised him when she saw him and was very happy.they started talking about old times and it was amazing! he was talking about stuff (which happened around 40 years back), as if it was yesterday.
And then i remembered my uncle (mom's second brother) talking about a guy few months back. he used to work at their home many years back, and they used to trouble him and have fun at his expense. Now i remember, it was this guy, Jayan that he was talking about.
He used to trouble Jayan, and granddad used to beat him. but still, after nearly four decades, he still comes back to visit grandmom! what do you call that- loyalty, affection? believe me, u don't see much of that nowadays.

- about how he and mom's elder brother were friends and they used to keep a pillow under the sheets, climb down a tree and go for movies at night.
- about how he used to get mom's second brother into trouble by being an informer to granddad.
- about the pennukaanal of my cousin's mother (mom's eldest sis). the guy came with his aunt, and granddad told jayan to show them the college. jayan thought he came to join the college, and showed the whole place. they went to the college and saw aunt (informal pennukaanal, in those days!)
- about all the beatings he got from grand dad. after one major slap, he decided to run away. aunt was going to her husband's place the next day, after the second kid's birth. he too jumped into the car and went to aunt's house and stayed there for two years.
- about how he used to hide bottles in a cardboard box, for granddad.
